WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH SPOTLIGHT

How long did you do hair before starting Kaleidoscope Hair Products?

"Before creating Kaleidoscope Hair Products I was a hair stylist for 20 years."

What inspired you to move from BTC (behind the chair) into a CEO position?

"I was kind of forced to move from behind the chair into the CEO position. I actually was not ready to leave the salon; I did not want to leave my customers. I gradually made my way out, when I realized I was only hindering what Kaleidoscope Hair Products could become."

On a scale from 1 to 10. 10 being vital and 1 you can live without it. How important is Social Media to Kaleidoscope Hair Products?

"Social Media is definitely a very vital part of Kaleidoscope Hair Products. On a scale of 1-10, it comes in at a strong 10. We understand that our presence on social media is not only about selling a product. We offer inspiration to thousands of people. It now almost feels like an obligation to make sure that we are never slacking, No Days Off."

How were you able to build relationships with celebrities?

"Kaleidoscope Hair Products has become a reputable brand over the years, before utilizing celebrities. Being that we already had the attention of many, getting celebrities to come on board with our promotions was not that hard."

If we’re sitting here a year from now celebrating what a great year it’s been for you, what did you achieve?

"A year from now I will be celebrating the exponential expansion of our upcoming products, and also celebrating getting into our big box stores."

Who is your role model?

"My role models would have to be Oprah, Beyonce’, and Ellen Degeneres. "

Tell me about an accomplishment that you consider to be the most significant in your career.

"My three biggest accomplishments would be leaving my position as a stylist, retiring my mom, and beginning the “Pray Through the Process” movement. I always say, I never saw myself as more than a hairstylist. So the fact I have been able to retire my mom and inspire so many people to trust God through all things is so amazing to me."

Tell us about a time when things didn’t go the way you wanted— like an opportunity you wanted and didn’t get, or a promotion that didn’t turn out how you had hoped.

"I’ve had many ups and down as an entrepreneur. One of my biggest missed opportunities was about a year into the business. I spent $50k on an infomercial, only for it to run about 2 or 3 days, before it was pulled for using improper terminology."

What motivates you?

"My motivation comes from the fact that I have over 1 million followers who support me. I am also motivated by watching my growth, not just in business, but as a person. It is a beautiful thing to watch God’s plan continually unfold before my eyes."

You're a new addition to the Crayon Case, what color would you be and why?

"I am currently already a product at the Crayon Case. The Judy Brush was inspired by me. It is full of color just like me."

If there was a movie produced about your life, who would play you and why?

"If I could choose someone to star in a movie based on me, I would choose Shanyah Solochek to portray me. She not only is my assistant, but my friend, who many say favors me."

What are the first three things you check about the business when you wake up?"

"The first three things I check about the business are the numbers! Shopify sales, Instagram Impressions and Engagements."

If Da Real Puppy Dog could talk what would he say about you, that would surprise us?

"If Da Real Puppy Dog could talk and say something about me, it would more than likely be that I am a very shy person, and I am very introverted which is the complete opposite of what many people will assume based on my Instagram."

What would you tell 16 year old Judy about Miracles?

"If I could tell my 16 year old self anything, it would be to stay encouraged and watch how your life unfolds.”

What's the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you?

"I cannot limit myself to choosing the nicest thing that someone has done, but I can say this. I get an overwhelming feeling of love and true support from my family, friends, and all my followers. I am very sentimental, and the best gifts are those that money cannot buy."
